A Few Really Good Ab Workouts Based On
Isolating The Oblique’s From The Rectus Abdominus
The focus of the first 2 abdominal workouts is the rectus abdominous or
the muscle that most people commonly refer to as their "upper and lower" abs. The focus of good ab workouts #3
and #4 is the internal and external obliques.
If you read through my "good ab workouts help" article, then you already know
that you should ideally be training your rectus abdominus and internal and external obliques on different days. Now
that said, I do realize that not everyone has the time to split up their ab workouts so I've included a few good ab
workouts that target the muscles both individually and in combination (making sure to utilize the correct exercise
order of course!).

Before you jump out of your chair and run to the gym to start hammering your abs, you need to understand that
your abdominal muscles are muscles just like any of the muscle groups on your body. Because of this they need to be
challenged with progressively heavier training weights and allowed to rest in between workouts - just like any
other muscle group!
If you want to isolate the different abdominal muscles and perform the first 3 workouts, I would recommend
training your abs 3 time each week with a 1 day rest between ab workouts, that way you can fit in good ab workouts
that target all of the abdominal muscles.
If you want to be a bit more efficient and perform any of the combination abs workouts, then I would only
perform 2 ab workouts a week with 2 - 3 days rest in between workouts. You really don't need to perform your ab
workouts any more than that!
These are a few of the exact same ab workouts that I use both personally and with my personal training clients
with a lot of success. Each of these ab workouts is quick and easy to fit in and I’ve found them to be extremely
effective at developing a well chiseled set of abs. As long as you've got everything else under control (your diet
and weight lifting workouts), the good ab workouts listed above should be all you really need to chisel out that
picture perfect six pack!
