"The perspective of an average everyday guy who grew up skinny -eventually got tired of being made fun of all the time, made a decision to do something about it - and actually followed through with that plan by becoming a well respected personal trainer!"
Having never really been a skinny guy myself (I had the opposite problem growing up), I can't pretend to know what it must feel like to have to live with the constant embarrassment of having a really skinny body, but I really do admire the fact that Vince made a decision to find out how to change his body safely and naturally - and committed to sharing that knowledge with others. While Vince has built an impressive physique by implementing the principles that he teaches in his muscle gain program, his body is lean and muscular. Not overgrown and huge like most bodybuilding guru's. This is one of the things that initially drew me to his system. While Vince is not huge like the guys you see in the muscle mags, it's realistic to believe that someone can achieve this type of look safely, naturally and relatively quickly by following his system. If you've read many of the articles on this website, you probably know that I'm a big proponent of picking a proven muscle building system and simply following along. "You are in absolute control of -Vince Delmonte, Author of No Nonsense Muscle Building- While there are many different ways to build muscle and get into shape, the quickest route to a new body is to simply replicate the success of others...
Don't waste you time trying to reinvent the wheel. Pick a proven system, put it to practice and learn at the same time you build muscle. By the time your through with your training program, not only will you know how to build muscle, but you'll also have a new more muscular body! I've spent the last 15 years of my life trying to figure out the muscle building process. Based on my experience, trail and error is just not the best way to go! Vince's No Nonsense Muscle Building is a great example of a comprehensive muscle building program that has a proven track record. Inside No Nonsense Muscle Building Vince...
One of the reasons that I like Vince's program so much is the fact that he takes the time to address the intangibles of the muscle building process, things like...
"While adequate bodybuilding nutrition, weight lifting workouts that stimulate muscle growth and rest and recovery are all important factors to address when trying to build muscle mass, there are other things that need to be taken into consideration if you want to build 20 -40 lbs of lean muscle. The truth is that you are for more likely to build muscle if you have your priorities in order and your head screwed on straight!" Lets not kid ourselves here...Building muscle is hard work!
Another thing that I like about No Nonsense Muscle Building is the fact that Vince takes the time to discuss the same fundamental muscle building principles that I write about on the pages of this site. These are the only principles that have been proven to build muscle mass safely and naturally. The
Muscle Building Principles That Specificity - This principle states that the body will only adapt or grow in response to specific demands or training. In other words, if you want to build muscle mass, you must train specifically to build muscle mass. Progressive Overload - This principle states that in order to grow, your muscles must be progressively overloaded. My favorite (and Vince's favorite ) way to accomplish this is by training with progressively heavier weights. Training With Adequate Muscle Building Intensity - Vince actually teaches you how to calculate your intensity level. This takes all of the guesswork out of the process and empowers you with the knowledge of exactly how intense your workouts are. This tip alone is worth the $77 that this program will cost you. Rest And Recovery - This is an area that most muscle building programs completely dismiss. If you don't learn how to allow your muscles to recover from intense training sessions, then you will not build any muscle mass. The No Nonsense Weight Lifting WorkoutsAnyone who trains to build muscle mass knows that you need to perform heavy free weight workouts to stimulate muscle growth. What most people don't know, is how to structure an effective training program that stimulates as much growth as possible by constantly keeping their muscles guessing. Vince's training program utilizes what he calls "undulating periodization" to constantly change up repetition ranges, weights and rest intervals. Do you know the difference between...
Vince does and he cover the topic in detail explaining why typical periodization models may not be the best route to a more muscular body. While Vince acknowledges the importance of training with heavy weights and covers it extensively, he also understands that conventional heavy weight low repetition workouts are not always the best way to simulate muscle growth. Through out Vince's unique muscle building workout section he covers topics like...
The weight lifting workouts section begins with a discussion about the importance of developing a base level of strength and muscle conditioning before jumping head first into the explosive 29-week training program. Vice provides a full 4 week pre-training plan that he calls upside down training. This ensures that everyone starts off on the right foot, with a solid foundation to work from, and helps to minimize common muscle imbalance and weakness that is often the root cause of training related injuries. "Gain Muscle Mass While Actually
Working Out
"No Nonsense Muscle Building is an excellent program for anyone who has a limited amount of time to train." No Nonsense Bodybuilding Nutrition GuidelinesVince's advice on eating for muscle gain is straight forward and based on scientific fact, not guess work. Nothing is left to chance in this chapter as Vince's does his best to describe the critical muscle building nutrition habits like...
Vince also does a better than average job of explaining exactly how to
calculate your muscle building calorie requirement. While the science behind this has been known for years,
most people have a really hard time understanding how to actually perform the calculations. Vince takes you
by the hand and explains exactly how to determine how many calories you need to be eating each day to build
muscle.
Vince subscribes to the belief that in order to build muscle you must have everything in order. No just your workouts. He describes the muscle building process like this... "1 % Training + 99% Recovery = 100 % Results" In No Nonsense Muscle Building Vince Uncovers 3 rules to follow to monitor over training" This allows you to go back to the gym knowing that your body has fully recovered for your last workout. As a personal trainer with over 12 years of experience training guys who want to build muscle mass, I whole heartedly agree! It's relatively easy to get to the gym and slam out a decent workout. It's much harder to keep your bodybuilding nutrition plan laser focused for growth and I believe, even harder still to implement a solid rest and recovery approach. Unfortunately most guys completely neglect nutrition and rest and recovery. They rationalize that it's just not that important for muscle growth. Here's the truth from where I stand... "I have yet to come across a muscular person who doesn't make nutrition and rest and recovery a major priority! Even if they are not consciously aware of it themselves, they have structured their lives to ensure that their muscles get the nutrients they need to build muscle mass and keep it on!" What I Liked About No Nonsense Muscle Building While I was reviewing this program a few things jumped out at me that really made me stand up and take notice. First off, I was very impressed with the fact that Vince has taken the time to research the methods that he teaches throughout his program. While a lot of the guru's claim to base their training methodologies on science, the truth is that they just don't add up. I found all of the information in No Nonsense Muscle Building to be consistent with what I have learned over the years. Secondly, I really like the fact that Vince takes the time to address the fact that no one can build muscle mass without making a commitment to themselves. The process of building muscle requires a lot of hard work! It doesn't matter what type of training you do, if it's not with the proper intensity, then you won't build muscle. The third thing that I really liked about this program was the fact that Vince was a former skinny guy - hard gainer type. Because of this Vince is able to teach from a unique angle. He really understands the frustrations and hardships faced every day by guys that were just like him. This is a large part of the reason that I hold this program in such in such high regard. "No Nonsense Muscle Building is one of only two muscle building programs that I give a (5/5) star rating to. And hands down the number one muscle building program for skinny guys!" What I Didn't Like About No
